Today my Mom, Mrs. Jan, and I went and picked out the granite, tiles, and lights for the house! A long (but fun) day! Have to thank Mom, the photographer, for all the pictures today!

This is the granite we picked for the kitchen and the laundry room. The grey and browns are colors that will go in the kitchen, dining room, and living room.

Mrs. Jan talking me down from a freak-out over all my granite options!

How I felt after looking at all the choices, and this was the first stop of the day!

This was the runner-up to the one I chose...

THE WINNER! So excited!!!!!!

The smaller light to the left is one of the two pendant lights for over the bar in the kitchen.

The light that goes on the outside of the garage, hanging over the doors.

The middle light is one of the two pendants that will go over the bar.

This is the light in the dining room. It will have cream paper shades over the lights instead of these that come standard.

The light in laundry room.

The light that is in the hallway next to the basement door (between the arches). It is also going to be in the hallway before you walk into the guest bath and guest bedroom downstairs.
The middle, bottom, subway tile is the tile blacksplash for the kitchen.
The white pinwheel is the tile flooring in the masterbath with the light grey grout. The "penny tile" (round ones in the top right) are the tiles for the floor in the upstairs bathroom, and it will have a cream colored grout.
Picking tiles from the thousands of choices!

The windows are done (except for being painted) on the new construction.

The new chimney! It is the same brick that is on the front porch.

It works on the inside now too!

The new siding going on the new construction. It won't be this color once it is painted.

Another angle of the new siding.

We have a buttercup blooming!! YAY!

Me and Dad looking at the siding. Trying to look really smart! Ha-Ha!

Friday: February 20, 2009

All the new windows and new doors are in the new construction, so we could take down the plywood between the new and old construction. Now you can see the entire house together, an exciting day!

The chimney had to be redone from the roof up. So as of right now you can't see a chimney.

The chimney...

The chimney being replaced. You can see the copper on the dormers from the side.

Standing in the dining room you can see the kitchen to the left.

Standing in the master bedroom, looking out the door. You can see hallway, dining room, and then all the way into the kitchen!

Standing inside the kitchen looking into the hallway (gallery) and into the laundry room.

Mom's standing in the living room and you can see all the way to the back to the backdoors.

This is where the bar is, two barstools will go where I'm standing. And the door behind me is the side door

So they're were a few termites in this board. You can see all the way into the other room through this hole.

Standing in the Laundry room, you can see all the way to the kitchen!!

February 7-16, 2009 - New Front Porch, Copper Dormers, and a Visit from my Grandparents...
Bricks on the new front porch.

We got the concrete poured so that the pavers can be put on top.
Yes cheesey I know. But the concrete was still wet...couldn't resist.

"Tyvek" all around

The house with the porch on it!
Across the street at the park...you can kind of see the copper dormers (you can see them better in person) and the porch.

The house from across the park.

Me next to the dumpster...there is always one at the house!

Inside the basement, the "hole" going into the crawlspace of the new construction.

What the kitchen looks like everyday, messy!

The living room isn't very clean either.

Jen hanging out at the house...she is so sweet she comes to look at it almost everyday with me after I get off work!

Grandad and Grandmom came to visit! Grandmom had not seen the house since we started construction because she had been out of town.

We went out to eat after looking at the house. Dad was taking the picture.

My Contractor! (and DAD)

Andrew, we found old darts in the basement...it was definitely meant to be the mancave!

The old furnace in the basement...it is gone now.

Looking into the furnace.

They had to put a toilet downstairs in the basement for people working at the house to use. It is Dad's favorite part, he thinks it is really funny. I think it is nasty.
